The Coppermines & Coniston Slate.com - our origins

With a background in estate management and the recycling of period buildings we now specialise in producing Coniston Slate - for the World, in addition to our Holiday Cottage business - The Coppermines & Lakes Cottages.

The green slate quarry was started over 100 years ago and now produces mainly polished slate worked in the traditional way by experienced local craftsmen who also manufacture a large range of Ornaments and engrave House Signs and Numbers.

The black slate comes from further down the valley and is a useful contrast to the green.

We pride ourselves in being able to produce both larger and smaller quantities of our products, and specialist items not listed, so if it can be made in slate - please contact us!
